Solar Alvura

Our Story

Born from a love of the Algarve and a belief in slow living to bring us back to calm.

The Beginning

A Dream, A House, A Hotel

Solar Alvura began as a family home and farm, a centuries-old farmhouse perched among olive groves and fig trees in the eastern Algarve. For generations, it operated as both an olive mill and a thriving farm, where friends gathered around long tables, children wandered barefoot through the gardens, and guests lingered long after sunset. Over time, the property was left abandoned and gradually fell into disrepair. In recent years, however, it has been thoughtfully restored with meticulous care and attention to detail, preserving its character while bringing new life to the estate.

Fresh spaces - reimagined

In 2026, we open our doors to the world - transforming this cherished farmhouse into a small luxury hotel that preserves the warmth, intimacy, and unhurried pace that made it special in the first place. Every guest is welcomed not as a visitor, but as a friend. We can't wait to welcome you.

Our Philosophy

Less Is More

We believe the best hotels don't try to be everything — they do a few things beautifully. At Solar Alvura, that means rooms designed for rest, a restaurant that honours the seasons and the region, and a team that knows your name by the second morning. No crowds, no noise, no pretension. Just the sound of birdsong at breakfast, the warmth of terracotta underfoot, and the feeling that you've found somewhere you don't want to leave.

The Place

Rooted in the Algarve

We chose the eastern Algarve for a reason. Away from the crowds of the western coast, Moncarapacho sits in the heart of a landscape shaped by centuries of farming, fishing, and Mediterranean light. The Ria Formosa nature reserve is minutes away. Tavira, Olhão, and Faro are all within easy reach. This is the Algarve the guidebooks haven't found yet — and we'd like to keep it that way.

Come and see for yourself
